Noah's visit to the Air & Space Museum

I was really blessed to work for the San Diego Air & Space Museum for almost three years. So, Janette and I took Noah to visit my old work. Noah is the first "Library baby" according to Katrina, my old boss and head archivist at the museum.

Noah Meets His Paternal Great Grandfather

Noah is blessed to have four living Great Grandparents (two on each side of the family). We took him on Wednesday to visit great grandfather Cooper. My mother joined us for the outing. As usual, my grandfather was full of stories, most of there authenticity was a little suspect. :-)

Noah is One Month Old

Christ is Risen!

Well, it is hard to believe that Noah is now a month old! Time does fly when you are not sleeping much (unless your name is Noah, he sleeps pretty darn good).

Here is a picture of him at three days old.

And here he is at one month.

When he was born he weighed 7 pounds 14 ounces and was 21 1/2 inches long. At one month, he weighs in at ten pounds and is 21.9 inches. Our little guy is growing!

Christ is Risen!

The date Saturday, April 6, will always be special for Noah. On this day Noah received the mysteries (sacraments) of Christian initiation in the Byzantine Catholic Church at Holy Angels Byzantine Catholic Church. The three Holy Mysteries that Noah received are Baptism, Chrismation (confirmation in the west), and the Holy Eucharist.

Janette and I have been looking forward to this day since Noah's birth. Our faith in God is our first priority and having Noah come into the fullness of it as soon as possible was a priority for us.

Noah is blessed to have two wonderful God parents, Fr. James and his wife Olena. Fr. James is the pastor of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in La Mesa. He and his family are good friends of ours and our now our two families are even closer.

Noah is equally blessed to have Fr. Robert, our spiritual father, administer the Holy Mysteries.

Noah was peaceful and calm during the whole service. He didn't even make a sound when he was placed in the baptismal waters. Fr. James noted that this was the quietest baptism he has ever been to. We are blessed to have such a calm little man.

Visits from our parish family

Christ is Risen!

One of the great blessings that Janette, Noah, and I have is that our parish community, Holy Angels Byzantine Catholic Church, is very close.  When a new baby arrives many families help prepare meals to take to the new mom, dad, and child.

Since Noah was born, many wonderful families have come to visit and bring us food. Others have brought food to church on Sunday for me to bring home. In the Byzantine Church the mom and child are not required to come back to church for forty days after birth. So, I have been flying solo the last few weeks at church.

Our first visitors to stop by were Rebecca Holm and her three children, Simon, Leo (the great as he likes to point out in my ECF class), and Agnes. Rebecca's husband is in the Navy and currently out to sea.  She made us home made pasta and fresh baked bread. Janette and I at it all in one sitting.  (Sadly, I forgot to take pictures of their visit.)

The Denure family came to visit us later in the week. The four DeNure boys were excited to see Noah, and Tate really wanted to hold the new baby. So, we let him. :-) Clint and Alexis brought us some vegetarian lasagna, which was devoured by the two of us soon after they left. Earlier, that same day, Bob and Janet Greenwell stopped by with some left over chili and other assorted snacks. The Chases had a lot of food.

Last night, we had the Deane family come over (finally as they had been sick for a few weeks). We are very close to the Deane family and always have fun when we see them. They have five children, ages 12- 4 1/2 months. The whole clan did not fit in our old little house, but in our new condo they did.

It was fun putting Noah and Guinevere side by side to see how big she is at 4 1/2 months compared to Noah at three and a half weeks. 

Jonathan brought over two great beers from one of my favorite breweries, New Belgium, and we drank them both. Susan prepared a local dish called Cardiff Crack (a steak that is so good it is like crack) with some vegetables. After, a fun filled evening Noah, Janette and I feel asleep. (Dad from drinking too much beer :-) )

Others at church made us delicious food and we are very grateful for their generosity!
